Greenwatch trust organized and celebrated the World Wetland Day for the first time in the history of Somalia.
The main aim of this event was to raise public awareness towards the significance of conserving the Earth’s wildlife. it was benefited by students from Ahmed Gurey secondary school in Mogadishu . World wetlands day is celebrated every second February starting from 1971 in the Samantha Land of the Ramsar in Iran.
The theme of this year’s 2018 was “Wetlands for a sustainable urban future.”. The event was occurred Mogadishu Peace Park. it was participated by representative from civil societies and other guests of honor.
The Director of Greenwatch trust Mr. Abdifatah Hared has officially opened the event and welcomed the other participants. Continuing his speech, Mr. Hared has highlighted and emphasized the importance of wetland for the living things. He also mentioned that the Somali water resource are in a great risk and are needed to be protected in order to survive.
